Qualifications
Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1978 after undertaking his articles and qualifying with one of the large Bournemouth practices (now Lester Aldridge). He is a qualified Collaborative lawyer and a member of Resolution.

About Peter
Peter was a partner with the firm for 35 years and was Chairman and Senior Partner for a number of those years.

In 2018 he stood down from the partnership and became a Consultant to the firm. He no longer deals with client work but his experience and expert knowledge is still available to support the firm’s partners and Solicitors when required.

His expertise during his practice was in family law and in particular in dealing with the resolution of financial matters following divorce and separation and included court advocacy on behalf of clients. He also dealt with private client work and contentious probate matters.

Law Society
Both during his time with the firm and since becoming a Consultant, Peter has been active in a number of local and national roles connected to law.

He was a member of the Law Society Council in London representing Dorset between 1994 and 1998.

He went on to Chair the Law Society’s Family Law Committee from 2000 to 2003 and was subsequently a member of the Family Justice Council Money and Property Committee. In these roles he was involved in a number of developments in family law nationally.

Peter was President of the Bournemouth & District Law Society in 2007 and was Family Law Partner of the Year in the Family Law Awards in 2017.

In 2020, Peter again became a member of the Law Society Council representing Dorset and since the beginning of 2022, he has chaired the Society’s Membership and Communications Committee and sat on the Law Society’s Main Board.

Peter lives in Highcliffe and is married with two sons.
